My Boys is set to take off on its second (not third) season. Contrary to popular belief, My Boys' first season contained all 22 episodes. It just took a break as part of the routine mid-season cliff-hanger. I'm not exactly sure if it was affected by the writer's strike or perhaps they waited to get picked up before airing
