Trash is Trademarked?

Did you know trash can be trademarked and legally protected from being re-purposed? I didn't, at least not until I did a little research after reading one artist's story on a forum. Who would have expected that even after something essentially becomes trash, that an artist could be sued for using it in their crafts? If you make crafts or art from empty product packaging, you can't afford to not read this blog post.
