Here is a really superb article explaining the pros and cons of the two kinds of blog hosting - free and self hosted. There is plenty of exceptionally useful information for anyone who is still undecided on which way to go. Of course there are more valid reasons to self host your blog. But never discount the usefulness of free hosted blogs as an additional means of making money!
