Recently, Google's free Blogger service angered much of the blogosphere for disallowing links to commenter's who did not have sites hosted at Blogger. Apparently this was not Blogger's intention. Rather Blogger was in the process of implementing a service called OpenID. The effect of this service at Blogger will be to reduce comment spam. But what this means for the rest of us - is that we can once again comment and have our name link back to our own site no matter what platform it is hosted on. The catch - isn't there always one? - is that we must sign up for an OpenId and slightly alter our blog templates.
