My wife is going to have surgery sometime between mid-February and mid-March. She's in the U.S. and I'm in the Philippines. She's deathly afraid and wants me there. I'll have the money for the round-trip ticket and she'll have a little money saved for us to get by on. I won't have access to my pension, which comes direct deposit to a local bank, and I may be there up to 30 days. An Internet connection won't be a problem.

People are suggesting that I put a "buy a beer" type thingy up, or a regular PayPal donation button so that others could help out. It just seems too much like begging to me. On the other hand, I'm considering PageRank suicide in order to build up funds quickly that would be available to me once I got there.
