Alltel Wireless Limbo

Alltel must be a lame duck business with the likely takeover by Verizon. The FCC may get Verizon to discard 15% of the Alltel subscriber base to pass reservations about becoming a monopoly. But by having the subscriber names they have a great prospecting list to hound for moving over to Verizon. Alltel and Verizon dominate the aging CDMA mobile network, and need to radically move forward on a faster 4G wireless data network to compete with Sprint Nextel's buildout.
